Cookie Policy

Cookie Policy

This page describes cookies and similar technologies used on Shovl’s website and app. “Cookies” includes pixels, SDK storage, HTML5 local storage, and session storage where applicable.

Controller and contact

  • Shovl is operated by the team reachable at ma10016@nyu.edu. For questions about this Cookie Policy, contact us with “Cookies” in the subject line.
  • For how we process personal data more broadly, see the Privacy Policy. Browser storage may contain or relate to personal data depending on what you submit to the Service.

Strictly necessary

Required

These technologies are essential for security, authentication, load balancing, or core site delivery. They are used to provide the Service you request.

  • When you sign in (or when sign-in is enabled), our authentication and hosting providers may set HTTP-only cookies or equivalent session tokens to keep your session secure.
  • Our hosting infrastructure may set short-lived cookies for routing, DDoS protection, or TLS/session continuity.
  • You cannot opt out of strictly necessary technologies without losing core functionality (e.g. staying signed in).

Preferences and consent storage

Local storage

We store your cookie-banner choice in your browser’s local storage (not a third-party ad profile). This remembers whether you accepted or rejected the banner so we do not keep prompting you.

  • Key used on the site: cookie-consent (values such as accepted or rejected).
  • You can clear this at any time via your browser’s settings; the banner may reappear until you choose again.
  • This category does not include cross-site tracking or advertising cookies.
Clear or block local storage in your browser settings if you do not want this preference remembered on this device.

Analytics and advertising cookies

Not in use today

We do not currently deploy third-party advertising cookies, social pixels, or cross-site behavioral analytics on this marketing site. If we add optional analytics or similar technologies in the future, we will update this Policy and the cookie banner and will obtain consent where required by law before non-essential tracking runs.

  • No ad-tech or retargeting stack by design at launch.
  • No sale of personal data through cookie syncs.

Browser controls

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and site data. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break sign-in or security features. Use your browser’s help documentation for steps (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, etc.).

Industry opt-out tools (e.g. for ads) are not applicable while we do not run behavioral ad networks on this site; we will link relevant tools if that changes.
